The Ultimate Burger

Years ago, I was watching the Food Network and I saw these restaurants making these hamburgers stuffed with cheese.  They called them Juicy Lucy’s.  Me being lactose intolerant, watched with longing and probably with a little drool hanging off the side of my mouth.

For a long time I thought I could handle goat cheese, but that soon was out of the picture.  Now that I know that ALL dairy must be avoided, ALL HOPES OF A KICK ASS STUFFED BURGER ARE SHATTERED…or are they???

Last week I posted a homemade cheese that melts.  I hope you all tried it.  It dawned on me that this might be the golden ticket to make the ultimate burger!  IT WAS!

Ingredients For the Cheese:

  • I added 1.5 tbsp of Zatar that a friend of mine brought back from Israel for me.  (I thought it would would be nice to spice the cheese for this batch.  I highly recommend making your cheese and herb cheese or spicy for a stuffed burger.)

Ingredients For the Burger:

  • 2 lbs of grass fed beef.
  • Some Trader Joe’s Every Day seasoning to sprinkle on top of the meat. (you can leave plain or just salt and pepper if you want.)




Make a patty out of the meat and add a pad of cheese to the center.  Then grab some of more meat and put on top and close it off so you have big burger that hides the cheese.

Since it was too cold and rainy for me, I seared both sides on my grill pan just for the grill marks.


Then I baked them in the oven on 400 the rest of the way for 15 mins.  This had my burgers just the way I like it…roughly about medium to medium well.

Right after it came out of the oven, you can tell how steamy and my camera got =).  The cheese was perfect, melty, goodness!
